While undergoing a brief identity crisis as a thirty something mother of two, I was challenged by a friend to look into what God says about me and my creation. It was during this crisis of sorts that, like so many mothers, I was feeling guilty about the mother I had become. It was as though I had blinked and ten years of parenting was behind me. Many seasoned parents will tell you that this is how it happens and we learn from our mistakes. Only, I wanted to rewind time and fix all the parenting mistakes that I have made over the years. So, submerged in mommy guilt, I picked up the bible and started my quest. As I am sure this friend already knew, this exercise would allow me to heal and love myself in the way that God loves me. The reminder that my own inequities and sin have already been forgiven, allowed me to see myself for how God sees me, as his precious daughter.
As women, wives, and mothers we beat ourselves up daily about our shortcomings. We are constantly comparing ourselves to those around us and unsure of how to balance the life we are living. Ladies, the devil will take those moments and use them to pull us away from our loving father. When you feel that pull, please join me in walking through what scripture says about forgiveness and what he says about each of us!
We are his daughters….Luke 8:48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
We were made for His glory….Isaiah 43:7 “Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them."
We are a masterpiece sent to do great works…Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
We are not alone…Psalm 46:5 “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”
We were created to help God’s people….Proverbs 31:20 “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.”
We were made to be free…Colossians 1:13 “God made us free from the power of darkness, and he brought us into the kingdom of his dear son.”
We were made to be His friend…Romans 5:11 “And not only that, but now we are also very happy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Jesus we are now God’s friends again.”
We were made to be a gift…James 1:17-18 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”
We were made to be forgiven…Colossians 2:13-14 “He forgave all our sins. He canceled the debt, which listed all the rules we failed to follow. He took away that record with its rules and nailed it to the cross.”
We were made in grace…Romans 3:22-24 “God makes people right with himself through their faith in Jesus Christ. This is true for all who believe in Christ, because all are the same. All people have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory. People are made right with God by his grace, which is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.”
We were made to be victorious…2 Corinthians 2:14 “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in victory through Christ.”
We were made by His hand….Isaiah 64:8 “Yet, O Lord , you are our Father, we are the clay, and you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
We are loved….1 John 4:10 “True love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. God sent his Son to be the way to take away our sins.”
